User Research: Summary
User Research: Pain Points
Limited disk space
Users phones’ limited storage capacity doesn’t allow them to receive large numbers of photos from other phones.
Compromise with quality
Sharing photos on social media platforms comes at the cost i.e, of compromising the quality of the photos.
Time consuming task
The task of sharing photos with friends requires time to upload photos to a social media account and then share them.
User Persona: Nikhat Jahan
I’m looking forward to an app that allows me to collaborate with my friends in creating a photo folder that will cover the entire event from the smart phones of group members.
Goals
- Creating a group of friends to share each moment of an event captured from different smartphones from various angles.
- Get excellent pictures from a friend’s smartphone through the app.
- Cloud-based shared folder that will lighten the load on my smartphone.
Frustrations
- Asking friends to send photos taken at an event proves problematic due to the limited space in smart phones.
- Often, the quality of the photos is compromised when sent through WhatsApp or other social media apps.
User Profile
Nikhat Jahan, a young and promising professional architect, is 24 years old. She lives in Hitech City, Hyderabad, with her family. Whether it’s a birthday party, annual day, wedding, or festival, she enjoys capturing and gathering all the memories of the occasion.
During her friend’s wedding, she took photos with her smartphone of her friends, relatives, and important rituals. While she was with the bride during her bridal makeup, she completely missed the opportunity to welcome the groom during the baraat. She asked her friends individually to share the images and videos of that particular event with her. When she received the photos on her WhatsApp, they lost their quality.
Problem Statement
Nikhat Jahan is a young professional architect who needs a mobile app where she can create a group and collaborate with members to add and share event-specific photos in real-time because she can’t be everywhere and doesn’t want to miss any part of the event.

Takeaways
Impact
Users were excited about the new features of a photo sharing app where they could see all the photos of an album instead of just the album cover photo, unlike in other such popular apps. Some of them are of the opinion that it could prove to be a very useful tool for the professional photographers covering an important event.
What I learned?
Such a product has a significant need and demand in the market, which demonstrates that there is potential for it to dominate that market. Despite the large market, we need to understand why major players like Google Photos or WhatsApp have not yet launched a similar product. Understanding the practicality and feasibility of a product’s success in the market is equally crucial.
Thank you for taking the time to review my work. For potential collaboration, feel free to reach out.
